A Weekend of Chrome, Culture, and Community

The Buick Car Club proudly attended this year’s Chromefest with 13 Buicks on a beautiful Spring day.
It’s one of Australia’s premier celebrations of classic cars, rock ’n’ roll, and vintage culture and we’ve been attending for about 20 years Colin Castle reckons.

Held along the beautiful shores of The Entrance, Chromefest once again attracted thousands of enthusiasts, collectors, and curious spectators. Among the standout displays was the Buick Car Club, showcasing a diverse lineup of beautifully restored and lovingly maintained vehicles spanning several decades of Buick heritage.

The Saddingtons attended the Friday cruise but the majority of us usually attend the Sunday display day only after meeting just down the road at The Diggers Club carpark. It was a pleasure to have a surprise visit from Qld members Peter and Jannelle Tight. Unfortunately our resident Santa, Vince Bosco could not attend as planned. We trust he has made a speedy recovery.

Club members enthusiastically chatted with visitors, sharing stories of restorations, road trips, and the satisfaction of keeping classic Buicks on the road. Many spectators commented on the elegance and rarity of Buicks compared to more commonly seen American classics.

Chromefest isn’t just about the cars, it’s about the culture surrounding them. We embraced the festive atmosphere, enjoying live rockabilly music, retro markets, dance performances, and the vibrant nostalgia that makes the event so special.

For many in the Buick Car Club, Chromefest has become an annual highlight and a chance to proudly represent one of America’s most iconic automotive brands. Each year brings new cars, new friends, and new stories worth telling.

With the success of this year’s outing, the club looks forward to an even larger and more impressive presence next year.
